PRESENTED BY Instructor and performer Osmar Perrones, Founder and Director of the Yamulee Dance Studio.
CONTACT INFO For information call the studio at 718-292-9768, or Osmar at 917-597-3576 and email Osmar@yamulee.com (in Spanish).  See their web site at www.Yamulee.com .
TYPE OF EVENT & VENUE This is a very enjoyable "hard-core uptown" salsa social held in medium-to-large size dance studio which attracts dancers, including some very advanced ones, from NY, CT and NJ.  The crowd ranges from 100 to 150 dancers, depending on whether it's a regular social or a special event with several performances or other special attractions, and depending on how many dancers there are from the wider mambo community.  The Yamulee studio has very powerful air conditioners so it's COOL in the summer.

MUSIC Almost entirely pure classic salsa plus a little cha cha, bachata & merengue.
DANCE PERFORMANCES Yes, local and out-of-town mambo teams perform. They are listed on our Main Calendar.
DJ Usually music is DJd by "Los Tres Mosqueteros":  DJ Osmar Perrones, DJ "Doc Salsa" Steve Shaw (from www.SalsaNewYork.com ) and DJ Vittico "La Magia".  See our Main Calendar for DJs on any particular date.
BAND None.
DANCE FLOOR Large wooden studio dance floor which is generally "medium speed".  However, when the weather and the dancing gets really hot, the floor can become "a bit slower".  So wear your "medium" to "more slippery" shoes.
PRICES Very reasonable.
BEVERAGES AND FOOD Beverages for sale such as water, Gatorade, etc.  Feel free to BYOB.
DRESS CODE Very casual.  Come dressed to dance hard.

DANCE TIMING

Entirely "New York On 2" timing and style.

DESCRIPTION Presented by Osmar Perrones and the staff of the Yamulee Dance Studio and Dance Company at their own facility.  They invite all mambo dancers to come and enjoy the dance performances by invited groups and lots of classic salsa by the DJs on their professional sound system.  The music mix is one of the best and most versatile of any mambo social in NYC, spanning the broad range of salsa styles and also including some occasional well-chosen bachata & merengue.  And the dancers range from basic beginners to some of the best in New York City, including many Latinos.  No age limits.  See our Calendar for the list of performing dance teams and DJs.

The dance floor is wood and it is about "medium speed" so wear appropriate shoes.  Beverages will be available for sale.  The studio is cooled by the Bronx's natural tropical breezes plus there is a new very powerful air conditioning system, so come dressed to party hard in one of the COOLEST dance spots in NYC.  The location of the studio is 1 -3 blocks from the nearby train stations in a residential/commercial neighborhood in the Mount Eden section of the Bronx.
