DESCRIPTION Presented by gracious hosts Mike Pena of www.PartyForFreeNYC.com and Marlon "International" from Link Lounge/SideBar  and the Karisma Dance Company, there will be lots of classic salsa played by the DJ along with a bit of other music.  Sometimes there will be dance performances and they will also be listed on our Calendar Mike Pena  previously was putting on the salsa event Mojito Sundays @ Wish 26 and Marlon "International" is currently putting on Tuesday nights at Side Bar in partnership with DJ David Montreal.

Club Iguana VIP, upstairs, is a very attractive night club venue which is classy and elegant.  It is newly renovated with all the latest decor and equipment, and there is a coat check available.  There are 2 dance floors plus full bar and kitchen.  This is a great place to go if you want to go out dancing On 2 on a Saturday night.  It is very rare to find an On 2 club on a Saturday night.  And you can eat at the bar or in the restaurant and then continue dancing for hours.

HOW TO GET THERE This weekly club salsa party is being held at Club Iguana, upstairs in the VIP, 240 West 54th Street (between Broadway & 8th Avenue), midtown Manhattan, NY.  Club phone 212-765-5454.  Click Here For Map

Very convenient to get to by public transportation. Subways - C & E trains to 50th Street Station (at 8th Avenue).  B, D & E trains to 7th Avenue Station (at West 53rd Street).  N, R & W trains to the 49th Street Station (at 7th Avenue).  Limited street parking can be found around the club late, or try looking far west around 9th and 10th Avenues.  Don't park on 54th Street between 8th Avenue & Broadway:  The north side of the street is no parking at any time, and the south side of the street is commercial parking only.

For more information on public transportation, click on NYC Subway-Bus-Train Maps , or NY-NJ PATH Train Maps or Long Island Railroad Maps or MetroNorth Railroad Maps .

OTHER INFORMATION Age 21 and over.  ID required for admission to the club.

Downstairs Iguana is a very good restaurant with full meals available earlier in the evening.  Remember, this event is held UPSTAIRS in the VIP Lounge.

Please Note:  Commercial clubs are established to please their customers & make a profit.  If they get enough complaints or suggestions, they will often make changes.  As mambo dancers, you should make every effort to let the management & DJ know what type of music you want to hear, what volume & lighting conditions you want, how the dance floor should be, etc.  If enough salsa lovers give their opinions to management & DJs, they will listen.

Also, since commercial clubs have high expenses and need to make a profit in order to stay open and continue playing lots of salsa, they will therefore cater to the customers who spend the most money.  Mambo dancers can help get what they want by spending more money at the bar, even if it's sodas, fruit juices, virgin cocktails, water, sports drinks.  You may think you're smart by not buying anything at a club, or sneaking in a bottle of water or liquor, but actually you are pushing them to play more merengue, bachata, Reggaeton & English music, because customers who prefer this music spend more money at the bar.  If you want commercial clubs to feature more salsa nights, you have to pay for it by purchasing beverages at the bar.  This is just simple economics.  www.SalsaNewYork.com is not affiliated with any events or clubs;  we are just being realistic.
