ANNUAL NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY

TIME 10:00 to 2:00 AM.

This New Year's Eve social is being held at Ripley-Grier Studios, 520 8th Avenue (between 36th & 37th Streets), 17th floor, midtown Manhattan, NYC.

TYPE OF EVENT & VENUE This is a salsa dance social held in a good size nicely renovated dance studio and there are 2 extra studio rooms available when the crowd gets bigger.  Plenty of room so invite your On 2 friends.  Celebrating New Year's Eve, there will be a complementary champagne toast at midnight and snacks.  No liquor may be brought in from outside and the building's security will be doing bag searches.
MUSIC Almost entirely pure classic salsa plus a little cha cha.
DANCE PERFORMANCES Usually not.
DJ DJ "Doc Salsa" Steve Shaw, host of www.SalsaNewYork.com, will be playing his diverse mix of salsa & cha cha, plus more, for the dancers.
BAND None
DANCE FLOOR Excellent wooden dance floor which is "medium speed".
PRICES Price TBA.  Includes complementary champagne toast at midnight & complementary snacks.  Cash beverages available.
BEVERAGES AND FOOD Champagne toast at midnight to celebrate New Year's Eve.  Beverages are sold.  Various snacks like chips, pretzels, muffins are complementary.  No liquor may be brought in from outside and the building's security will be doing bag searches.
DRESS CODE Very casual.  Come as you like.

DANCE TIMING

"New York On 2" timing and style.

DESCRIPTION Presented by instructorperformer, choreographer, DJ and musician Carlos Konig, this social will feature lots of classic salsa music, with an occasional cha cha, by DJ Carlos Konig and other guest DJ's.  Held in a well-equipped studio, the wooden dance floor is "medium speed", so it is suitable for most shoes.  There are two dancing rooms available, plus another one ready to open if it gets crowded, as well as 2 other rooms for relaxing & socializing.  There will be a champagne toast at midnight.  Refreshments are available for reasonable prices along with complementary snacks.   Carlos is well-known to many of us as the smiling salsero with some of the fastest feet you've ever seen.  He is gracious and a true gentleman.  His classes & events are always friendly and the ladies tell me that dancing with him is a very graceful experience.  He invites everyone to come and join him at his social, a place for enjoyable dancing and socializing.  Plenty of room and great music, so invite your On 2 partners & friends.
 
HOW TO GET THERE

The social is being held at Ripley-Grier Studios, 520 8th Avenue (between 36th & 37th Streets), 17th floor, midtown Manhattan, NYC.  To see a Google map, which can be zoomed in and out, click on Click Here For Map.  Closest trains are A, C, E and Long Island Railroad to 34th Street station.  A couple of blocks away is the 34th Street station for the 1, 2, 3 and LIRR trains (on 7th Avenue).  The 8th and 7th Avenue buses also stop very nearby.  Street parking is possible but you have to search for a while.

Be sure to bring an ID for security check coming into the building.
